Ameritas Officer Elections Announced

JoAnn Martin, CPA, FLMI, president and chief executive officer – UNIFI Companies, announces the following officer elections effective December 1.
 

David Williams, JD, FLMI, was elected vice president and general counsel for Ameritas Life. In this position, he is responsible for managing the legal groups of UNIFI dispute resolution, individual insurance compliance, Ameritas Investment Corp., retirement plans and the group division.

David started his career with Ameritas in 1987 as assistant general counsel. He has served as assistant vice president and associate general counsel, second vice president and associate general counsel, and most recently as vice president and associate general counsel for Ameritas, Acacia and Union Central.

He graduated with a B.A. degree in English from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and earned his juris doctorate from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb.

David is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Missouri State Bar Association, American Corporate Counsel Association, Defense Research Institute and ACLI National Committee on Litigation.
 

Stephanie Stearley, FLMI, ACS, was elected second vice president - group customer connections and operations for Ameritas Group. Stephanie is responsible for implementing and managing operational metrics for the group division’s administration and licensing teams, as well as developing and implementing various control techniques, standards and operating procedures for the department. She also establishes and implements internal controls to ensure compliance, and identifies and implements new technology and work processes that enable the group division to maintain a leading edge in service delivery.

Stephanie joined Ameritas in 1992 as a data entry clerk and held various positions within group client services, including customer service correspondent, group client service representative and team leader. She returned to Ameritas in 2001 and was later promoted to manager – group administration and most recently to director – customer relations.

She earned an associate’s degree in merchandising from the Colorado Institute of Art and is pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in business management through Bellevue University.

She has the HIA (Health Insurance Associate) professional designation, as well as FLMI and ACS. She is a volunteer for Junior Achievement.
